Shopular's Black Friday Survival Kit

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I absolutely love Christmas and the holidays.  Not so much for receiving gifts, but for the priceless looks on my loved one’s faces when they receive theirs.  I love starting my Christmas shopping early because I want to ensure I am getting the perfect gift for everyone.  To stay organized and on top of everything, I literally make my list and start shopping early in November.  With that being said there are two crucial shopping days for me, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  I try to do 80% of my holiday shopping within these two days and it takes a lot of preparation and planning.  This year I feel ready as ever especially with my #BlackFridaySurvivalKit from Shopular.  Not only will I have everything I need to help me through the craze, but having Shopular as a shopping app will ensure I am getting the best deals from my favorite stores.  Check out what's included below!

Transition into Fall

My favorite season is almost upon us and I'm starting to transition my wardrobe.  Being from Vancouver, Canada, I definitely favor the cooler climate.  This season I'll definately bring back my favorite staples, but I am also excited to share some of the newer items that I've added to my collection.  One thing I am certain of, this amazing wide brim hat from Lack of Color is going to be in contant rotation.  Leather, plaid, boots and knits, oh my! What are a few of your fave fall trends?

Distressed Dream

My love for denim grows with these super comfortable distressed boyfriends.  They have the perfect amount of edge and slouch.  I paired it with my crochet crop top and red Chanel statement flapbag.  Subconsciously trying to get as much wear out of my crop tops before summer ends.  A general rule of thumb when putting an outfit together is playing with proportions.  If you're wearing something loose or has volume on the bottom, then make sure you are pairing it with a tight or structured top.  Same rule applies vice versa :)

Prim & Proper

Every so often I'll opt for ladylike attire and this outfit is just that. Nothing screams proper like a perfectly structured midi skirt. I found this gem of a skirt at a local boutique for a steal. It has all the makings of a classic statement piece. I wanted to stay true to my personal style and added a leather crop top, before beweling myself with a statement necklace.

Brand Obsession: Yves Saint Laurent

Ever since Hedi Slimane took over the reins as Creative Director for Yves Saint Laurent, the fashion house has done a complete 360.  Collection after collection, Hedi delivers by injecting a breath of life, youth and practibility into the brand.  From large statement bow collars to supple leather jackets, I am officially obsessed with it all.  Not to mention the Cassandre collection that has easily become one of the most sought out hangbags of the year!  Below are a few of my picks and lust list items.  Trying hard not to shop, but my knees are getting weak for that amazing quilted flap bag...

Mix & Match

I am loving the juxtaposition of grunge mixed with glam. I found these amazingly perfect shredded Levi’s on the sales rack at Urban Outfitter’s a few months ago and thanked my lucky stars that they were my size and only $15! They aren’t your average pair of jeans and this isn’t your average casual look. Mixing different trends lets you create unexpected looks. I also notoriously pair high and low items together and thought my metal cap toe Louboutin stilettos were a fun addition to the look.

Side Note - do not wear your stiletto heels to trek down the riverbed. I had to hitch a ride on the BF's back to avoid a sprained ankle!

Fail Proof

Do you ever wake up some mornings with no motivation to get dressed, or feel like you have nothing to wear? I'm sure we all have felt this at some point or another. Whenever I wake up with this problem, I turn to my fail proof outifts. Usually, I revert to my favorite pair of jeans and that perfect slouchy t-shirt, but I've discovered another easy fail proof combo as of late. I've been pairing my staple black leather jacket with casual dresses and my over the knee boots. For an easy thrown together outfit, it definitely looks a lot more pulled together. The structure of the leather jacket makes you looked effortlessly polished. You can also play with the versatility of this dress by adding some sheer tights, simple pumps and a fitted blazer for a daytime office look.

So next time you feel discouraged about what to wear, try playing around in your closet. Mix your favorite staple pieces with unexpected items and get excited about getting dressed. Your clothes are your first impression to others so make sure its a good one!

A New Beginning

It's a new year and although I'm usually reluctant to make resolutions and goals, this year I told myself that I would make more time for blogging, creative projects and doing what I love!  Sometimes, we get so caught up with everyday life that we lose focus on the things that matter most.

I'm hoping to be inspired and to inspire others.  There will be major changes this year and I can't wait to share them with you all!  Here's to a year of new beginnings and endless possibilities.
