Distressed Dream

My love for denim grows with these super comfortable distressed boyfriends.  They have the perfect amount of edge and slouch.  I paired it with my crochet crop top and red Chanel statement flapbag.  Subconsciously trying to get as much wear out of my crop tops before summer ends.  A general rule of thumb when putting an outfit together is playing with proportions.  If you're wearing something loose or has volume on the bottom, then make sure you are pairing it with a tight or structured top.  Same rule applies vice versa :)

A New Beginning



It's a new year and although I'm usually reluctant to make resolutions and goals, this year I told myself that I would make more time for blogging, creative projects and doing what I love!  Sometimes, we get so caught up with everyday life that we lose focus on the things that matter most. 

 

I'm hoping to be inspired and to inspire others.  There will be major changes this year and I can't wait to share them with you all!  Here's to a year of new beginnings and endless possibilities.

Freaky (Fatty) Fashion Friday

For the last few weeks, a new ritual has begun and that is Fatty Friday breakfast at Urth Caffe.  My favorite Urth location is the one that is nestled in between the run down buildings of the Arts District.  It is a hidden gem and a worlds away from the bustling Hollywood locations.  My absolute must order item is the Bold Spanish Latte.  If you are a coffee lover, it will change your life...trust me!  The food is always amazing and everything is prepared fresh with all organic produce.  

 

 My favorite thing about this new Friday ritual is that I like to go super early to get a jump start on my day.  I get there when the sun is barely peeking through from the night sky and the air is crisp and dewy.  As much as I hate waking up early, it is definitely worth it.  This particular morning, I saw a random building across from Urth with the coolest Halloween decorations.  It inspired an impromptu outfit shoot, so I whipped out my trusty iPhone.  Feeling festive, I got in there with my "Clueless" inspired tartan H&M pants and had some fun.  Hoping this weekend inspires you to do something spontaneous and fun!

Skirt Talk

One of my favorite trends this season is the asymmetrical skirt. I love seeing unique cuts on a classic staple. The great thing about this trend is that there are so many options out there and you can style it many different ways. I've chosen a few of my favorite picks to share as I am currently in the process of searching for the perfect one to add to my rotation this season. To hold me over until I find one, I was able to utilize a little trick with something i already had in my closet.. In the photo below I am wearing an old vintage pencil skirt that I've owned for years, but the trick is I am wearing it backwards! Genius right? The skirt itself had a very unique slit in the back that I always loved, but now I'm able to transform it into an asymmetrical skirt by wearing it a different way. Don't be afraid to take some risks and play around with items you already have in your closet!

Ladylike in Black and White

i was feeling very ladylike in my black and white attire. everything from the over sized sunnies, fringed skirt and draped coat made the look very feminine, in a street chic kind of way. the leather pieces were a nice accent and dressed up the casual white tee. somehow, i always end up wearing black. i will need to keep reminding myself to incorporate more color this season!

one of my favorite styling tricks is mixing up different trends. i love pairing unexpected fabrics or styles together for an unpredictable look. as many of you know, i also love to integrate highs and lows into my everyday wardrobe, nothing makes an outfit more than a fabulous pair of shoes or an iconic handbag! 

for my super lazy sunday outfit, i decided to pair these ridiculously comfortable camouflage jogger sweatpants, with a simple crop top. to incorporate something shiny for my mood, i chose my embellished zara sandals and my classic red chanel bag for a pop of color. best thing about the look? the outfit itself didn't cost more than $40! the street glam look of the day was a major success!

southern california has been suffering from severe dry heat lately so i trekked out to find some refuge in the cool shade. i wasn't always a fan of drop crotch "mc hammer" pants, but kickin' around some dirt in these bad boys were more comfortable then i couldve ever imagined. the best part about these pants are the price, but i will get to that a little later. the "leather", sweat pants style of the pants make them easy to dress up or down. i paired my look with a brocade crop top, simple gold chain and basic zara sandals.

so now, would you believe that they were only $10 dollars?! yes, believe it. for those of you who don't know about the Cooper Building in DTLA, you need to go asap! it's nestled in the corner of 9th and Los Angeles Ave. and houses over 100 designer showrooms. it gets even better, the brands have sample sales every last Friday of the month! one of my favorite sites for sample sale updates is Racked LA, you can always look up sample sales going on in your area. so that's how i was able to snag these, along with a handful of other items for a fraction of the retail price!
